Anxiety making it difficult to reach out?
When we are experiencing anxiety, even the day to day tasks can feel overwhelming. Reaching out for counselling can be one of those things.
You may find yourself thinking ....
"What if I don't know what to say?"
"What if they judge me?"
"What if talking about it makes it worse?"
So you put it off - Anxiety convinces you it is to keep you safe. You may tell yourself, I will reach out when I feel a little better, but sometimes that moment never does come.
This is where anxiety can become an ongoing cycle. The anxiety makes it difficult to reach out - we avoid it - we get temporary relief - but the anxiety remains and the cycle repeats.
Anxiety can tell us that reaching out for support will mean immediate danger and that others will judge us. I offer to you reaching out doesn't need to be everything at once. When reaching out you may just wish to write or say "Anxiety". That's enough for us to start. If a 15 minute introductory call feels to overwhelming, I am more than happy for you to email me and we can find your pathway forward from there.
